In Vougeot there are two imposing buildings: the ancient Cistercian monastery and Chateau de la Tour, built at the end of the 19th century. This was the first company to vinify Clos de Vougeot, the one that has the largest extension of the vineyard and the only one to have the cellar inside the legendary Clos.
Today the responsibility of keeping this coat of arms high lies with François Labet, who conducts operations in full respect of tradition, without any compromise. The company has been certified organic for a quarter of a century, while not feeling the need to advertise it, thanks to its prestige. The yields are limited to about 20 quintals of grapes per hectare, the whole cluster vinification is a dogma and filtrations and clarifications are absolutely banned.
These authentic masterpieces take time to reveal themselves in all their magnificence: here we are the antipodes of easy seduction, in exchange for a depth that has few rivals.
The pride of the company’s production is the Vieilles Vignes cuvée, from a parcel planted in 1910; a monument to seriousness, to austerity to the classicism of Burgundy that cannot fail to be present in a wine list that aims to satisfy the most demanding customers, or in a private cellar, which recognizes in this icon the guarantee of timeless refinement .
